How our kitting and assembly works

Kitting turns loose components into one finished unit before it ever reaches a customer. Because we store your inventory, build the kits, and fulfill the orders in the same buildings, there is no shipping parts between vendors and no version of your product sitting half-finished.

  • ✓Receive and store. Your components arrive and are stocked by SKU, ready to pull.
  • ✓Build to your spec. We assemble to your bill of materials and packaging instructions.
  • ✓Quality check. Barcode scanning confirms the right parts in the right count.
  • ✓Store or ship. Finished kits go to a pick location or straight out the door.

Retail compliance and accuracy built in

A kit is only useful if it is correct and it clears the retailer's door. Our barcode-driven WMS ties every component to your bill of materials, so counts are verified as kits are built, not guessed at afterward. That accuracy protects your margin and keeps returns and reships down.

We are experts in retail compliance, which means the labeling, stickering, and carton marking that reduce chargebacks and keep your packs aligned with the changing requirements of major retailers.

  • ✓Barcode-verified counts on every finished kit.
  • ✓Retailer labeling, stickering, and carton compliance.
  • ✓EDI and routing guide adherence that reduces chargebacks.
  • ✓Real-time inventory on components and finished kits alike.

Kitting and assembly FAQs

Kitting and assembly FAQ

What is kitting and assembly?

Kitting is the process of combining several individual products or components into one ready-to-ship unit with its own SKU. Assembly is the light hands-on work that goes into building that unit, such as inserting items, folding, bagging, banding, or applying labels. G&B Fulfillment stores your components, builds the kits to your instructions, and fulfills the finished units from the same California warehouses.

What kinds of kits can you build?

We build multi-SKU bundles and multipacks, subscription boxes, retail and club store display packs, point-of-purchase displays, promotional and gift-with-purchase kits, and Amazon FBA prep. If you can give us a bill of materials and packaging instructions, we can assemble it, store it, and ship it.

Is there a minimum order or unit count?

Minimums depend on the complexity of the kit and how often it runs. We handle both one-time projects, such as a seasonal gift set, and ongoing monthly programs, such as a subscription box. Tell us the kit and the volume during discovery and we will size the program to fit.

How do you keep kitting accurate?

Every component is tied to your bill of materials in our barcode-driven warehouse management system. Parts are scanned as kits are built, so the right items in the right count go into every unit. That verification protects your margin and keeps returns and reships low.

Can you handle retail and club store compliance?

Yes. We apply the labeling, stickering, and carton marking that major retailers and club stores require, and we adhere to EDI routing guides to reduce chargebacks. Give us the retailer's spec and we build the pack to it.

Where do you do the kitting work?

We have two California warehouses: Woodland (320,000 sq ft) in Northern California near the Port of Oakland, and Victorville (470,000 sq ft) in the Inland Empire near the Port of Long Beach. Kitting, storage, and fulfillment all happen under the same roofs.

How is kitting priced?

Kitting is typically billed per unit or per kit based on the number of components, the packaging, and the labor each build takes. Storage of components and finished kits is billed separately per pallet or cubic foot. New brands receive a custom quote after a short discovery call.
